Gary L. Ozment, 71, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away October 6, 2012. For 40 years, Gary served first as a patrol officer and retired as Chief Deputy for the Sheriff's Department in Rolla, MO. After retirement, he worked as a transporter for the Juvenile Office in Rolla for children with special needs. Gary retired completely in 2007 and moved to Bradenton, Florida with his wife of 51 years, Joan.
He is survived by their daughter, Michelle Hayes and son-in-law, Dennis, and grandchildren, Ashleah and Matthew Hayes. His great grandchildren, Ashleah and Josh Clark's children, Kadence and Junior Clark. Son Mark Ozment and daughter-in-law, Tammy, and their children, granddaughter, Amber and grandson, Brett.
Gary was baptized at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis County and a member of the Rolla Lodge #213, AF & AM. He received this 25 year pin as a Noble of ABOU BEN ADHEM TEMPLE of Springfield, MO. Gary excelled in sports in earlier years and loved to follow pro football. Gary cherished great memories of family get togethers with sisters and brothers-in-law and their children and loved more than most of all his two little dogs, Tiki and Mia.
He will be missed by all who knew him as the OZ, the most loving father, best friend and caring person.
Gary suffered from Parkinson's Disease and ask that anyone who wishes to donate to that fund.
