  • Helen Verle (Warner) Prigge 86, of Vichy

  • Helen Verle (Warner) Prigge was born October 29, 1925, in Vichy, the daughter of Samuel A. Warner and Nettie (Maupin) Warner. She passed away October 5, 2012, at the Boone Hospital in Columbia, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 6 days of age.
    Verle married Edwin Prigge on Sept 18, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Rolla, Mo. To this union, five children were born. Verle worked as a swith board operator prior to her marriage. Once married, Verle and Eddie lived in several states while he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. Upon returning to Vichy, Verle operated a restaurant. About 1962, Verle and Eddie purchased the C.O. Fannon Store in Vichy and called it Prigges' Market. Verle ran the store until 1990 when they sold it. For 30 years, Eddie and Verle enjoyed spending the winters in Bonita Beach, Fla.
    Verle was well-known for her crochet work and always had a ball of yarn and crochet hook close at hand.
    Verle is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eddie, of the home in Vichy; four children: Ruth Anne Moreland and husband, Marty, of Vichy; Betty Sue Litton of Vichy, Genevieve Maples of Belle and Mike Prigge, and wife Bonnie, of Vichy; Nine grandchildren: Lisa Cannon, Scott Moreland, Donnie Chambers, Mark Chambers, Andrew Maples, Jesse Maples, Claire Maples, Logan Prigge, and Lauren Prigge; and six great grandchildren: Joshua Ledbetter, Austyn, Allison and Zachary Moreland; and Dimesha and Elizabeth Chambers.
    Verle is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nettie Warner; one son, Robert Warner Prigge; one brother, Dale Warner; one sister, Elva Giesler; and two infant brothers.
    Visitation for Verle Prigge will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Monday October 8, 2012, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Monday October 8, 2012, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Sandy Dixon Officiating. Dorthy Daniels will play the organ with Marty Moreland Vocalist.
    Memorials are suggested to the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department, cards and all arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
