A crash has claimed the life of a Salem man after he struck a deer, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle and be ejected in Dent County late Thursday morning.

A crash has claimed the life of a Salem man after he struck a deer, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle and be ejected in Dent County late Thursday morning.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) report, Christopher A. Pollard, 33, of Salem, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Dent County Coroner Gina White at 12:43 p.m. He was transported to Wilson Mortuary of Salem by the coroner.

The patrol stated that Pollard was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling eastbound on Highway H, eight miles west of Salem, when he struck a deer that was attempting to cross the road.

Pollard then lost control of his vehicle and was ejected, the patrol stated. The motorcycle came to a rest on the road. There was moderate damage to the motorcycle.

The crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. The MSHP was assisted by the Dent County Sheriff’s Department.
