Body found in Maries County identified

A body found by Maries County sheriff’s deputies Saturday morning, Sept. 15, has been identified as Brian L. McCance, a 35-year-old man from Dixon.

According to a press release by Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman, McCance’s body was found near a wooded area along Highway 28 West near State Route E.

It was apparent that the body had been in the outdoor area for several days, the press release stated.

Investigators from the Maries County Sheriff’s Office attended the autopsy of the human remains Monday afternoon at the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office.

The autopsy gave no indications of foul play. The cause of death is still undermined pending toxicology results.
