Opal L. Harris 86, of Rolla

Opal L. Harris, of Rolla, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the age of 86.

She was born on September 16, 1925 in Phelps County, MO to the late Ezra Stogsdill and Lillian (Fore) Stogsdill. On October 26, 1940, she married Robert Harris who preceded her in death on January 29, 1994.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three daughters, Deborah Harris, Diane Harris and Phyllis Bailey; one grandson, Gary Davey; one son-in-law, John Davey; two sisters, Jewel and Audrey Stogsdill; and four brothers, Cletus, George, Vernon and Don Stogsdill.

Opal will be sadly missed by her surviving family which includes: one son, Joey Harris and wife Carol of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Jean Davey of House Springs, MO and Lana Blankenship and husband Don of Rolla; one son-in-law Ken Bailey and wife Marilyn of Rolla; one sister, Wanda Arthur and husband Ray of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, LaDonna Hayes and husband Chris, Brian Davey and wife Missy, all of House Springs, MO, Lisa Davey of Creve Couer, MO, Greg Bailey of Rolla, Teresa Price and husband Jimmy of Herculaneum, MO, Nichole Walters and husband Steve of Palm Bay, FL, Shauna Young and husband Leigh of Rolla and Stephen Blankenship and wife Tara of Houston, MO; sixteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

She was especially fond of her care givers and friends at Meramec Sunrise Residential Center. The family would like to say a special thanks to Dave, Marie and all the staff and fellow tenants for their love and care.

A funeral service for Opal L. Harris will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla. Pastor Danny Kemp will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Calvary Assembly of God or Pilot Knob Cemetery.
