Ozark Actors Theatre will close its 25th summer season of live, professional theatre with performances of "The Diviners" starting Thursday, Aug. 2, and running through Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Cedar Street Playhouse, 701 N. Cedar St., in Rolla.
The performances sponsored by Morningside Village, will take place Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
This play tells of the redemption of a wandering preacher as he befriends a heart-broken young man in the tiny town of Zion, Ind.
The cast will include professional actors from New York, Minnesota and St. Louis, along with several Rolla-based performers.
F. Reed Brown, OAT's original artistic director and co-founder, has returned to direct "The Diviners," which he last directed for OAT in 1988, back in season one.
"After the delightful 'Wizard of Oz' and hilarious 'Noises Off,' we are so pleased to close our season with such a powerful play," said Producing Artistic Director Jason Cannon. "We are especially excited because it's a perfect way to close our first quarter century by having Reed come back and direct a show that last graced the OAT stage in our first year of existence."
