  • Two of the three outgoing senior stars from last season’s record-setting Mizzou men’s basketball team heard their name during Thursday night’s NBA Draft.
Guards Kim English and Marcus Denmon were both selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft on Thursday.
English was the 44th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons while Denmon was the only selection for the San Antonio Spurs this season, taken with the 59th overall pick.
English was the third selection for the Pistons after Connecticut’s Andre Drummond and Texas A&M’s Kris Middleton. English averaged around 15 points and four rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from three-point range. He was the MVP of the Big 12 Tournament for the 2012 tournament champion Tigers.
Denmon led Mizzou in scoring last season at 18 points and also averaged five rebounds and two assists. He earned All-Big 12 Conference First-Team honors for the second consecutive year.
The Tiger hoping to be drafted but wasn’t was 6-9 center/forward Ricardo Ratliffe, who was passed over during the two rounds of the draft.
Ratliffe is now hopeful of signing a rookie free agent contract with an NBA squad.
