  • Area musicians are encouraged to join the Rolla Town Band this summer.
    Rehearsals will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays this month, beginning Tuesday, June 12, in Room 138 of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.  
    The group needs both performers and sponsors.
    The band is open to musicians age 14 and older and all ability levels are welcome, even if you have not played in many years.
    Dr. Robert J. Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy at Missouri University of Science and Technology, will conduct the band.
    Missouri S&T students who join the band may enroll for two credit hours for the class Music 30 at Missouri S&T.
    The Rolla Town Band’s first concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, on the Castleman Hall Green. Additional concert dates are Thursday, July 12, and Tuesday, July 17.
    Current sponsors for the Rolla Town Band include the Missouri S&T arts, languages and philosophy department and Arts Rolla.
    Organizations and individuals interested in helping sponsor the Rolla Town Band this summer and those interested in performing in the ensemble or those that do not have an instrument may contact Cesario at 573-341-4698 or cesarior@mst.edu.
