  • The Missouri University of Science and Technology Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony will perform their final concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for Missouri S&T students. Tickets are available at the door prior to the performance, or from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the vestibule inside the main entrance to Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“The concert will display pieces ranging across the spectrum of music composed for bands, from the traditional 20th century overture of Alfred Reed to the very modern 21st century works of Reber Clark, Glenn D. Price and Ralph Hultgren,” says Dr. Robert J. Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy, and band conductor. “We’ll also have one of the most striking examples of cinematic music from the last century with John Williams’ soundtrack highlights from ‘The Lost World.’”
The Symphonic Band will begin with “Two Fanfares,” by Jay W. Gilbert, and “Alone the Sun Arises,” by Clark. Its portion will conclude with highlights from Williams’ score of “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.”
After a brief intermission, the Wind Symphony will take the stage with “A Festive Overture,” by Reed, followed by a new piece by Price, “Voices of Spring.” The final piece will be Hultgren’s “White Noise.”
