The Phelps County Child Advocacy Network is hosting a town hall meeting to address the rising concerns about heroin in Rolla.
PCCAN, along with the Rolla Police Department hope residents will attend so they can be educated about the growing problem that RPD Chief Mark Kearse calls an epidemic.
In addition to law enforcement and professionals specializing in treating addiction, one area parent will be telling the crowd about their child's heartbreaking battle with the drug.
That child's battle ended in death.
Sponsors of the event are hoping education may prevent others from suffering the same fate.
The meeting will be held Apr. 24 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Rolla Technical Center Board Room.
