I was at a small coffee house today when I saw something that was surprising. I was sitting in the corner doing some homework, well on Google+.  I saw this older man, probably around ninety years old. I was shocked that this man was being led around like a small child. This man was talking about his background to another individual. The man was saying that he had done his graduate schooling up north. He asked her what she was working on, she was studying to be a nurse. I was astonished when he mentioned that he practiced medicine years ago. He went on to say that he had published documents on studies for Ohio University. This all caught my attention. In the technical writing field we see people of the older generation who basically created the subject matter that I study everyday. When the gentlemen left, the lady was saying how she knew him through the town, and everything he was saying was true. It truly makes me sad that this man, who has accomplished so much in his life, is being treated like a burden.
I find myself wanting to locate his nursing home and visit him. I think it's sad to see that people are not respecting his influence on his field. I find society disgusting when people would be stoked to see Dr. Phil walk in, but they are disregarding someone because they aren't "as important." I am very curious to know more about this man. I have to wonder why this woman didn't find this man creditable? I just overheard some of the conversation and part of me respects him.  I was at a small coffee house today when I saw something that was surprising.
