While the rain fell, the smoke rose in the second annual rib cook-off at Edgar Prairie Days Saturday.

Sixteen contestants, up 10 from last year, prepared ribs that would be judged on appearance, taste, texture and tenderness, as well as the judges‘ overall impression of the entry. Contestants from Springfield, Mountain Grove, Houston, Licking, St. James, Rolla and Edgar Springs were under similar canopy tents.
