A rural Rolla man was arrested Tuesday evening after Phelps County Sheriff’s Department deputies say they found approximately 20 pounds of marijuana in freezer bags in addition to a marijuana growing operation on the man’s property.

According to court documents, the deputies were informed by dispatchers of a tip that Timothy G. Crowley, 56, of Rolla, was growing marijuana on his property in the 14000 block of County Road 8050.

When deputies arrived they said Crowley gave them permission to search his property, and led them to a patch of plants behind a barn.

According to a press release issued by PCSD, deputies spent most of the day harvesting the live plants for evidence.

Crowley was issued a $50,000 bond, which he posted later Tuesday evening. He is scheduled for a bond appearance in court Sept. 27.
