Missouri S&T baseball team senior second baseman Brandon Cogan has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team for the second consecutive year, earning first team honors for the recently completed 2010 season.

Cogan finished the 2010 season as the Miners’ third-leading hitter with a .348 batting average and a team-high 17 stolen bases while hitting out of the leadoff spot in the lineup. His 70 hits on the season surpassed the previous school record for hits in one season (two other Miners had more during the year) and he also recorded two home runs, 15 doubles, 40 runs scored and 24 runs batted in.

For his career, Cogan batted .326 – one of the top 10 career marks at S&T – with the second-highest number of hits with 188. He also scored 111 runs, stole 41 bases and finished with 33 doubles, five triples and 80 runs batted in. He earned all-conference honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference during his career and was also an all-region selection on the field in two of the four seasons he played for the Miners.
