Illinois House members will return to Springfield on Monday to resume work on a state budget for next year.

A notice sent to representatives from House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago, advised them to be ready to stay in Springfield through Wednesday.

Unable to reach agreement on a new budget, lawmakers were sent home May 7 while negotiations continued. May 7 was originally set as the date legislative leaders hoped to conclude the spring session.
