The Missouri S&T track team sent a handful of competitors to Emporia State Saturday to compete in the ESU Sam Williams Qualifier in an effort to improve their marks to make the NCAA Division II Championships and did record two event victories along the way.


The Miners got winning performances from their 4x100-meter relay team of Mike Wilson, Brett Vessell, Sean Martin and Terry Robinson, as the quartet recorded a time of 41.45 seconds, and from Derick Winkle won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.67 seconds.


Among the other S&T competitors, David Huskisson had a time of 15:01.85 in the 5,000-meters, Elijah Thomas posted a mark of 20-3 ¾ in the long jump and Ryan Rethy cleared 14-6 in the pole vault.


The field for the Division II Championships will be announced Tuesday. This year’s meet will take place in Charlotte, N.C., beginning on May 27.
