The Phelps County Commission tabled action Thursday on selecting one of the four bids offering to sell the county three new dump trucks.

Road & Bridge Supervisor Walter Snelson told the Commission he would be prepared to offer his recommendation on purchasing the trucks by Tuesday.

Of the four sealed bids submitted, the lowest-priced bid came from Al Scheppers Motor Co., of Jefferson City. Scheppers offered three 2011 International 7500 models for $226,670, inclusive of a three-truck trade-in difference.

Truck Centers Inc., a Troy, Ill., company offered three 2011 Freightliner M2-106V model dump trucks for $248,314, which also includes trade-in differences.

Columbia Freightliner, of Columbia, offered to sell the county three dump trucks with Viking-Civis chassis and reinforced frames for a total of $280,069, inclusive of trade-ins.

Peterbilt of Springfield offered to sell the county three 2011 Peterbilt 365 model dump trucks for $312,486, with trade-ins included.

The Commission also reviewed one bid it received from the County of Pulaski, which offered to purchase one of the old dump trucks the county intended to use as a trade-in, unless the Commission received a better offer from an outright purchase.

Pulaski County offered to buy the 2003 International truck for $27,000, which was more than what was offered by the four trade-in prices offered by the companies submitting bids.

The Commission also tabled any action on the Pulaski County offer, pending a review of all bids by Snelson.
