Investigators still are trying to determine what sent four employees with the Forum Cleaners last week to the hospital with respiratory problems.

According to Ron Smith, training officer for the Rolla Fire and Rescue Department, Missouri Department of Public Safety Division of Fire Safety is sending an inspector this week to examine the business’ boiler.

“In the state of Missouri, you need a certification for boilers more than a certain size,” Smith said. An inspection occurs every year to certify boilers, and because of the incident Thursday, the RFRD decided to go ahead with this year’s inspection.

Smith stressed previous inspections have not shown any issue with the store’s boiler, and an investigation into the incident revealed no leaks of carbon monoxide.

The incident closed the store for several hours after one of the manager’s came in Thursday morning and found the four employees suffering effects from the unknown air contamination.
