Canvassing voters to ensure valid voter registrations is required every other year by Missouri State law.

Elections fall under the domain of the County Clerk’s Office, and Clerk Carol Bennett said canvassing voters ensures voter registrations and voters’ polling locations remain accurate.

“If you’ve moved here from another county, you must register to vote,” Bennett said. “If you’ve moved within Phelps County, you must keep your address current to vote in the precinct in which you live.”

Voter identification cards have a change-of-address notification printed on the reverse side of the card, and voters who have moved need to submit an address change.

Bennett suggested voters who do not receive a voter identification card within the next week should contact the County Clerk’s Office at 458-6101.

In a recent development, Bennett also said the Miller East voting precinct was changed from the Rolla Eagles Lodge to the Church of Christ on Highway E, just past the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I Headquarters. Notice of the change will be mailed to all registered voters in the Miller East voting precinct, she said.
