A 44-year-old St. James man was arrested and charged March 20 with child molestation.

Travis T. Ledoux was booked into the Phelps County Jail. Bond was set at $25,000, under the condition that he would have no contact with any child under the age of 18. As of Friday, Ledoux still was incarcerated.

According to the Probable Cause Statement filed by the St. James Police Department with the court, Ledoux allegedly admitted to molesting the victim a number of times during a lengthy period of time.

The alleged victim, an unidentified female child younger than 14, also confirmed the allegations in an interview, the statement said.

Prosecuting Attorney Courtney George said in the Felony Complaint and Request for a Warrant, a document filed with the court, that Ledoux subjected the child-victim to sexual contact “. . . on or about January, 2007, to December, 2007.”

Ledoux’s arrest was precipitated by an investigation conducted by the Department of Family Services.

A Case Review for Ledoux is slated for 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Phelps County Courthouse.
