Baby Kaylee was just born not more than seven days ago. Kaylee’s parents Kelly and Casper admit their daughter’s birth would not have been if not for the Pregnancy Resource Center in Rolla.
“I had scheduled an abortion two times and I’m so happy the Pregnancy Resource Center assisted me, because if we hadn’t met them, Kaylee would not have been born and we can’t imagine her not being here.”
Kelly says it was the best decision she ever made to give birth to her daughter and she and her husband Casper couldn’t be happier with their new addition. Kelly says the Pregnancy Center not only helped her in making the right decision to have her daughter, but it assisted her throughout her entire pregnancy and is currently providing her with parenting classes. “They are there anytime we need to talk and they are even helping me finish school,” Kelly says with a smile on her face.
Baby Kaylee’s story was shared with more than 200 walkers at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Rolla’s 2nd annual Walk For Life at Lion’s Club Park on September 27th.
“It’s stories just like Kaylee’s that make this event important,” said Pregnancy Resource Center’s (PRC) Executive Director Joe Dalton.
Dalton says proceeds from the walk support the Christ-centered mission that is committed to upholding the sanctity of human life. “We share the truth and surround clients with love during their difficult time,” says Dalton.
Dalton continues proudly, “Our facility at 1501 East 10th Street has seen more than 300 clients since we opened 17 months ago and we are averaging 25 new clients every month.”
The Pregnancy Resource Center provides services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasound services, crisis pregnancy counseling for both mothers and fathers, education on abortion and adoption, as well as abstinence.
Pregnancy Resource Center President of the Board Tom Dilly says, “We are 100% funded by donations so to see this beautiful representation of life is incredible.”
Walk For Life participants collected pledges in order to raise money for PRC.
PRC volunteer David Clifton, who counsels men at the center, was the big pledge fundraiser collecting more than $3,000 for the event. “I’m passionate about the cause and would not take no for an answer. I believe my success in raising the money was God driven.”
Another PRC client turned volunteer Sabrina McConnaughhay was at the event with her seven week old son Michael to show her support, ““I don’t think the community realizes how important it is to keep our children for the future.”
This is the second annual walk for the PRC, lasts years event raised $18,000 for the Christ-centered ministry. This year’s event raised $25,408.14. The PRC’s goal was $30,000 for this year.
The Pregnancy Resource Center also hosts a Banquet For Life held in the Spring.
