A 16-year-old Rolla boy died on Sunday from injuries he sustained when he was ejected from a riding lawn-mower as it traveled off the road, down an embankment and struck a fence and several small trees.
Joshua Curt Frost was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 6:30 p.m. by the county coroner, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Troop I Crash Report.
Two other people were riding in a trailer being towed by the lawn mower.  One unidentified juvenile was not injured in the accident, and the other occupant, Justin Cook, 20, of Rolla, suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
“The accident is still under investigation,” said Sgt. Dan Crain, MSHP.
Crain said Frost, who was operating the MTD Yard Machine riding mower, had just departed a residence and was traveling northbound on a downgrade section of County Road 2030, in an area which is located two miles north of Rolla.  The lawn mower missed a curve in the road and traveled off the left side of the road.
After hitting some trees, Frost was thrown from the lawn mower and received the fatal injuries from the ejection.
It has not yet been determined if the mower blades were running at the time of the accident; however, the blades of the mower had nothing to do with the injuries Frost sustained, Crain said.
Frost is the son of Christopher Frost and Marsha Veasman.
Funeral arrangements for Frost is under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home.
