Ashton Gronewold is going home.

Missouri S&T’s All-American wide receiver from Carthage, Ill. received and accepted an offer to participate in the Chicago Bears’ rookie mini-camp to be held this week from May 2-4, according to S&T head football coach Kirby Cannon.

It could lead to a contract offer. The Bears are in need of wide receivers, maybe more than any team in the NFL.

“I’m very excited for Ashton,” S&T head coach Kirby Cannon said. “When presented with the opportunity from the Bears, he jumped on it without much delay. He’s an Illinois native that grew up rooting for the Bears. I think he’s delighted with the opportunity.”

More to come later this week.
