The seventh annual 5K Run/Walk for Alcohol Awareness is set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with a starting line at The Zone, located at 555 Blue’s Parkway in Rolla.

The annual run/walk event is coordinated by Prevention Consultants of Missouri, with support from the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

All proceeds from the event will support the Mentoring Makes A Difference Program and the 50, local mentors and matches participating in the program.

“We hope anyone interested in supporting an important issue and helping a great program for local kids will join us Saturday morning,” said Lisa Cannon of Prevention Consultants.

“We encourage people to bring a friend, their sweetheart, their leashed dog or their little ones in a stroller and enjoy the family-friendly event,” said Cannon.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each of the runners’ divisions, and all walkers and runners will receive a tee shirt and gift bag.

A silent auction will be held including a variety of merchandise, gift certificates, professional services and event tickets from local and area donations.  The auction began April 14 and will conclude at the end of the Run/Walk.

Participants may register or get additional information by contacting Prevention Consultants of Missouri at (573) 368-4755 or from 7 to 8:15 a.m. at the event.

Pre-registration is $15, and Saturday registration is $20.
