WEEK IN RELIGIONAs many as 800,000 people attended an event Jan. 19 in Russia’s Chechnya region to protest against images of the prophet Muhammad published in French publication Charlie Hebdo.Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov denounced the cartoons as “vulgar and immoral” while addressing the crowd. On Jan. 7, two gunmen with connections to al-Qaida stormed into the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo and killed 12 people.
