County clerks around the state are getting ready for Missouri’s Presidential Preference Primary Feb. 7, but many clerks and party officials see little need for the primary in general due to some big changes in the process this year.
While numbers recently released by the Associated Press and Federal Bureau of Investigations indicate more Americans chose to exercise their Second Amendment rights in 2011 than ever before, Phelps County seems to be an exception to that rule.

A fourth-quarter rally allowed the Rolla High School boys’ basketball junior varsity team to defeat Seckman 40-31 Wednesday in the first round of the Pacific Jayvee Tournament.
Rolla, now 10-3, will play host Pacific at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Bulldogs will then play again in the tourney at either 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. on Saturday.
